PRESS RELEASE: Gallery 992 presents: MYTHOS ATLANTA MYTHOS: a pattern of beliefs expressing often symbolically the characteristic or prevalent attitudes in a group or culture The “MYTHOS” exhibit is a collection of works assembled from four different series by ATL visual artist Ralph “rEN” Dillard. Mythos aims to initiate a dialogue between the individual viewer, and society’s deeper sense of a larger mythological entanglement with others. This body of work tackles some of the more common iconic religious and spiritual symbols, but also offers up fresh imagery. “We are so excited to have the phenomenal work of rEN grace the walls of Gallery 992. It’s refreshing to engage such a visually articulate talent. It’s our pleasure to share his creative voice to the community at large. I personally feel that as the story telling aspect of this body of work unfolds, it will speak to the deeper consciousness of our viewers, invoking both a joy & a remembrance of the way.” Gallery owner & curator Ragenia Waddada Inspired by the philosophy of comparative religion scholar Joseph Campbell, the Mythos exhibition first debuted last May in Macon Georgia at Ampersand Gallery. The eclectic Gallery 992 will offer the first viewing of the collection in Atlanta! “If our idea of God is a metaphor for that which transcends all levels of intellectual thought, then the job of the artist is to help folks move beyond intellectual thought alone. Most people are not looking for the meaning of life as much as they are looking for the experience of being alive. We don’t think alive, we feel alive! Mythos speaks to that.” – rEN. With swirling surrealistic landscapes and thought provoking imagery, MYTHOS intends to help trigger a authentic reconnection with that feeling!
